Problem:

Mold making is a critical part of manufacturing. With highly-skilled and highly-paid workers, savings in this area can translate into significant savings to the bottom line. Often, time is wasted when retrieving tools. (In the U.S., the average round-trip time to the tool crib is 15 minutes.) The shop needed to automate the tool crib and decentralize the tools and supplies to the point of use to save time and costs.

Solution:

AutoCrib's point of use dispensing system -- featuring the RoboCrib 1000, RoboCrib 2000 and RDS machines, and AutoCrib's Tool Crib software for inventory management was implemented.

With AutoCrib's automated dispensing system installed at point of use, the average trip time is cut by nearly 75 percent, averaging only four minutes. Using a keypad or touch screen on each dispensing machine, the mold makers merely enter employee number and PIN, and then select the tool or supply they need. The item is dispensed at point of use, often in less than 10 seconds.
