Where's your highest possible ROI with industrial vending?

- Workers accidentally dropping a tool into a bin full of metal shavings, and not bothering to retrieve it – just going to get another tool
As the owner of an industrial distributor, I lived the inventory challenges that my customers were continually struggling with. And those challenges directly led me to start tinkering with creating the first industrial vending machine.
At AutoCrib, Inc., we use our own industrial vending machines in our manufacturing operation to dispense tools and supplies. And that happened after this incident one day:
- At the end of the day, a maintenance worker was sweeping up debris on the shop floor. And I just happened to be around, and noticed expensive parts in that debris. It wasn't the maintenance worker's fault – he didn't realize how much money he was about to throw away.
Since we've been using our own industrial vending machines to dispense tools and supplies, I no longer see these types of problems. Accountability is built into the system now. When a part falls on the floor, rather than checking out another one, our employees are motivated to pick up the part. They know management cares about waste –– and assigns a cost and quantity to what each person issues from the system.
